A partir del  16 de abril de 2019 16 de octubre de 2019 entrará en vigor una nueva regulación (Orden APA / 1076/2018 de 11 de octubre) / legislación NIMF 15, que establece los requisitos fitosanitarios para la importación o entrada de embalajes y estiba de madera en las Islas Canarias, con el objetivo de reducir el riesgo de introducción o dispersión de plagas y otros organismos nocivos para la salud y la vida de las plantas en el territorio canario.

Están bajo esta normativa todo tipo de embalaje de madera de espesor superior a 6 milímetros, tales como: cajones, cajas, jaulas, tambores y envases similares, palets, palets-caja y demás plataformas para carga, collarines para paletas y maderos de estibar, utilizados o no para el transporte de mercancías de todo tipo. 

En caso de incumplimiento, el Servicio de Inspección de Sanidad Vegetal Fronteriza puede tomar las medidas que considere apropiadas, como la detención del envío, la eliminación de material no conforme o su destrucción o reexportación. Dependiendo del riesgo fitosanitario, este Servicio también puede decidir extender las medidas adoptadas a los envíos o materiales contenidos en el embalaje.

Por lo tanto, para evitar incidentes eventuales, así como también multas y gastos adicionales en sus envíos, asegúrese de que sus embalajes de madera cumplan con los requisitos normativos.

To whom it may concern:

On 16 April 2019 16 October 2019 a new regulation will come into force (Orden APA/1076/2018 of 11 October) / legislation NIMF 15 which establishes the phytosanitary requirements for the import or entry of wood packaging and stowage in the Canary Islands, aiming to reduce the risk of introduction or dispersion of pests and other organisms harmful to the health and life of plants in the Canary Islands.

According to the new regulation, all wood packaging and stowage, whatever the origin is, must arrived undergo one of the treatments approved and specified in the regulation, and bear the corresponding mark o certify that they have been subject to the mentioned phytosanitary treatment (black spike).

In the event of non-compliance, the Border Plant Health Inspection Service may take the measures it might deem appropriate, such as the stop of the shipment, the removal of non-compliant material, or its destruction or re-exportation. Depending on the phytosanitary risk, this Service may also decide to extend the measures adopted to the consignments or material contained in the packaging.

Therefore, in order to avoid eventual incidents, as well as penalties and additional expenses on your shipments, please make sure that they comply with the requirements specifically applying to the wood packaging and stowage of your cargo.
